Fighting the Hydra….
I think the conservative movement is in the same situation as my old hero. Every time we focus on one issue, two more pop up. Now, there are so many heads swinging around, biting at us, you can’t see the monster’s belly. Too many of us are focusing on those thrashing heads, instead of strategically aiming at the body of the monster… the drive towards a socialist government in America.
We’ve been had folks, all is distraction, nothing is what it seems. It’s confusing, and exhausting. Take a few days, read Rules for Radicals. It’s easy to read, short, simple, and utterly enlightening. It reads like a translator for the Obama Administration. The chaos, confusion, division, and agitation is all part of the plan, and don’t forget the fear, which easily turns to anger or violence.
Don’t fall for it folks. Don’t get distracted by all those snapping heads. Get to work, find candidates that you like, that represent you. Figure out what you want America to be, and THINK. Think long and hard about it. You may even have to let go of some of your favorite issues or preconceptions. Work for your local party or a favorite candidate. Read, get busy, get smart, and focus on the belly of that beast.
We can’t all serve in the military or run for office, but we can all devote several hours a month to defend our country from tyranny. It’s our privilege, it’s our duty.

Why I’m a Republican…..finally.
Here’s the thing, I’m a conservative. I believe in Constitutional Law, small government, small taxes, a strong defense/nat’l security, a balanced budget, and power from the people/state up, not the Federal down. I have other beliefs too, but none of them as important as those I’ve listed, politically at least.
I’m reading and seeing a lot of stuff about social issues, like abortion, and sanctity of marriage, which seems to be a euphemism for gay rights these days. Important issues? Yes. But frankly, when I look at Greece, then at our deficit and debt; when I look at gas prices, then at the Cap and Tax bill being introduced tomorrow; when I look at two, almost successful, terrorist attacks on U.S. soil in the past 6 months, and then at the thousands of people pouring across our southern border unchecked; somehow, the social issues just don’t get me worked up anymore. I’m not for legislating morality anymore than I am for legislating charity at this point.
So, I’m a Republican, warts and all. I still don’t have much use for the national leadership, but here in Rockdale, I’m seeing a real, grassroots groundswell, and a strong, principled leadership. We can, and do, make a difference here at home, we just need more of US. More on US later.
Besides, where else is a self-respecting conservative going to go? Tea Party 3rd Party? No thanks, take a look at Crist and Rubio in FL. Conservatives might as well hang a “BEAT ME” sign around their necks. I mean , seriously, I’m a Tea Party Fan, donator, and follower, but I’m not dumb enough to split the vote in the most important election cycle in the history of the country. So, just where is one to go?
Here’s the other thing, the US thing. There are conservatives of every color and persuasion out there. We don’t have to agree on everything, it’s not a requirement. Let’s not run off, scare off, and offend those that agree on the majority of issues.
If we want to be successful in this election cycle, we need to concentrate on being the Party of Inclusion, for ALL conservatives; all races, all religions, and yes, all conservatives on the sexual orientation spectrum. There are good, righteous people from all corners. This isn’t a church, it’s a political party, fighting for survival and the freedoms that America has represented all over the world.
There is room under the Republican umbrella for all conservatives that are non-violent, and I’m proud to stand with them.

No beef against immigrants….
5/2/2010
Who’s against immigrants? Frankly, I don’t know anyone who is!? In my work I come in contact with a good many immigrants, and I’m proud to have them as fellow Americans; however, I do know a lot of people, including myself, who are upset about the invasion of illegal aliens, among them a large proportion of drug smugglers and criminals, at our southern borders. Pres Bush tripled the border patrol, and was able to get Congress to fund a fence, both low and high tech, to help protect our border. He tried to get Immigration Reform passed through Congress, but was accused of trying to grant amnesty. Well, if amnesty is deporting criminals, and forcing those who wished to stay to pay a fine and go the back of a 13-year line to apply for citizenship, so be it. But Pres, then senator, Obama, and VP, then senator Biden, voted against the bill, and have cancelled the fence, leaving it uncompleted. They’ve hung a Welcome sign on our southern borders. They could find time to waste on an inefficient, and corrupt Healthcare Bill, but cannot find the time for meeting their constitutional duty of securing our borders, and providing for the common defense of our citizens. This is not a problem he “inherited”, but one he has helped and continues to create. . What’s really going on here?
